Our Curriculum
At Birchwood High School, we strive for all students to benefit from an ambitious and enriching curriculum experience. Our curriculum is designed to foster the needs, abilities and talents of all our students, with inclusive classrooms creating the conditions for students to become independent and curious learners.
We believe that when all members of our school community work together to create an outstanding learning environment with a robust curriculum, student success will flourish.
In Key Stage 3, our students are given the opportunity to explore a wide variety of subjects as part of the national curriculum: English, Maths, Science, Humanities (History, Geography and RE), Expressive Arts (Art, Drama and Music), Technology, Modern Foreign Languages (French, German and Spanish), PSHE and PE.
In Key Stage 4, they refine the number of subjects they study before selecting their final choices to study at GCSE level in Year 10 and 11. Further details on our options processes and a full list of Key Stage 4 courses can be found here.
The curriculum maps for each of our facilities can be found below. For more information on each faculty and its staff members and to request more information about the curriculum, please head to our Subject Faculties page.
