Birchwood Café

It gives us great pleasure to welcome you to Birchwood High Catering department.

We hope that both parents and students will see that our aim is to provide fresh, high quality food, delivered and prepared on a daily basis, using local suppliers for our fruit, vegetables and meat. We pride ourselves on the choice and service offered to our customers.

Changes for the Autumn Term 2020

Café Entrance 1 – Hot Food

Students will queue up the ramp outside the Gym and enter the current servery from outside.
Café entrance 1 will have hot break items available at break and hot food at lunch

Café Entrance 2 – Pasta King

Students will queue outside the café from the old exit to the back of Pasta King.
Café entrance 2 will have all break items available at break and Pasta King at lunch.

Café Entrance 3 – Sandwiches

Students will queue outside the Café in the original queue and then enter the Media corridor to collect sandwiches, drinks and cold provisions and then exit the Science corridor.
Café entrance 3 will be closed at break and have sandwiches at lunch.

No indoor seating will be offered in the main canteen area. Sit down dining is available on the decking outside the Gym.

A slimmed down and visible menu in queuing areas will assist rapid ordering.

Please note that there will be no breakfast service offered initially, to allow catering staff time to settle into new arrangements.

Birchwood - a Healthy School

We place as a high priority, the importance of implementing the Government’s School Food Plan for school lunches in order to provide vital steps in fighting child obesity. Together with lessons in Science, Food Technology and PE, we aim to encourage our students to lead healthy lifestyles, and actively support healthy eating and drinking throughout the school day.

We are proud to announce Birchwood High was awarded ‘Healthy School’ and also five stars in the latest Environmental Health inspection.

Our daily menu...

…includes a traditional main meal with vegetables, a vegetarian choice, pasta and chicken wrap bar and jacket potatoes with various fillings.

A wide range of sandwiches and wraps
Cold pasta and salad pots
Yoghurt, fresh fruit and a selection of homemade cakes
Drinks including milkshakes, spring water and fruit juices

Opening Times

The café is open at break time and at Lunch time until 2.00pm.
