The Essex and Herts Air Ambulance kindly came in to teach Birchwood High School students basic lifesaving skills techniques. They ran three, one hour sessions for Year 8, Year 12 and Year 13. The Air ambulance went through different scenario’s on how to spot when someone is in trouble and would then require help. As part of the sessions they taught students how to use basic CPR and for the older students they included training on how to use a defibrillator. They talked about the sightings of the defibrillators across Bishop’s Stortford including the one which is based in our sports hall at Birchwood.

The Essex and Herts Air Ambulance have been Birchwood’s local charity of the year, and they were invited to the school as part of Feel Good Week, during which everyone helps to raise funds for all of our charities including Sparkle Malawi and National Firefighters Charity.
