Woodland Fun Run
Last Sunday saw our first Woodland Fun Run which was a joint event organised by Birchwood PSFA and Summercroft PTA. The event included a 5K walk/run around Birchanger Woods and a 1K fun run around our running track for younger children with a themed treasure hunt. We also had bouncy castles, face painting and a variety of food and refreshment stalls. The event was open to all, including students and families from both Summercroft and Birchwood. Thank you to everybody who supported this event, we couldn’t have done it without our brilliant volunteer helpers and of course everyone who came along on Sunday morning to participate! We are also hugely grateful to Lednor estate agents for their help with marketing and to Waitrose for their donation of two hundred bananas.
We received some great feedback and are already starting on the planning for next year’s event. Our aim is to grow this event and have more involvement from Birchwood students and children from other local schools. If you have a company willing to help sponsor next year’s Woodland Run we would love to hear from you.

Our second AGM is being held on Monday 18 March at 7pm in the BDC.
If you are able to come along we would love to see you. The three main committee roles are filled with candidates happy to stand again and there will be no pressure to commit to becoming a regular face if you prefer not to.
We’ll be thinking about events for the coming year, allocating funding in response to recent requests from staff and considering the direction we want take the PSFA with regards to a whole school approach. We very much hope to see you there!
Birchwood Bonus Ball
The draw for December was made by Mrs Jacobson, and witnessed by two members of school staff. The prize of £62 went to Tracey Tyler with winning number 13. January’s draw was made by Dr Ingate and also witnessed by two members of staff. Congratulations go to Mary Augustine with winning number 31.
The Birchwood Bonus Ball is a raffle style club, with up to five numbers available to purchase per person, per subscription period. The subscription fee is £2 a month per number, payable in advance for the remainder of the academic year. 50% of subscriptions shall be allocated as prize money and 50% to PSFA funds with prize money depending on the membership uptake. Draws shall be held on the last day of each month.

Wine Tasting
Thank you to everyone who came along to our wine tasting event on Friday 1 February. We hope you enjoyed it, picked up a few hints and tips and had some fun too! If you have any feedback for us on the evening or the types of events that you would like us to hold in future then do please let us know. We raised just over £300 and will be looking to run another in the future.
