PSFA

PSFA Committee members

Parents Staff & Friends Association AGM

Our second AGM is being held on Monday 18 March at 7pm in the BDC.
If you are able to come along we would love to see you. The three main committee roles are filled with candidates happy to stand again and there will be no pressure to commit to becoming a regular face if you prefer not to.

We’ll be thinking about events for the coming year, allocating funding in response to recent requests from staff and considering the direction we want take the PSFA with regards to a whole school approach. We very much hope to see you there!

Inspector Calls

An Inspector Calls

The Year 11’s were treated to a production of An Inspector Calls to help with their revision.

The Globe Players production company performed the play, stopping every so often to explain parts and give ideas to the Year 11’s, in the hope it would be a useful revision tool for the upcoming English Literature mock in February.

The English department thought by seeing the play acted out would help the Year 11’s with the “Response” part of their essay.

It was a useful experience, and both the Year 11’s and English department would like to thank the Globe Players for coming along and giving the students a chance to see the play in full.

The Year 11’s would also like to thank the English department for organising the event.

Tenner Challenge

Tenner Challenge

Year 9 Business students took part in the Tenner Challenge workshop. The aim of the Challenge is to make as much profit from the initial £10 investment using a business idea of their choice.

Jo O’Rilley, the event organiser said, a big thank you to all who contributed to a great morning with sixty Year 9 students The Brazier Trust for funding, to Gladys and Dave for giving up their time to volunteer, and Mrs Dervish for co-ordinating, also to the other teachers who helped!

We covered a lot of team challenges, skills needed in the workplace and the launch of the Tenner Challenge. I look forward to hearing what the teams do this year and how much money they raise. Any profit they make the students are able to keep for themselves.

Mrs Dervish, Business

Primary Links

Primary links with Birchwood

Year 6 students, from nine local primary schools, have been attending Birchwood to help stretch and challenge their maths skills. To conclude their time at Birchwood they showcased their work by building a truncated icosahedron decorated with all the maths they had learnt.
The winning teams were Northgate for decoration, St Michaels and All Saints for structure.
